About Us

Subhadra Charitable Trust (SCT) is a registered entity founded by a group of social and educational enthusiasts of Odisha. This was registered in 2011 and is based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, SCT which works in all the districts of the state of Odisha - both in rural as well as in urban areas. The Trust also looks for opportunities to intervene in other geographical locations of India as well.This Trust has certain wings and partnering associates who work in an integrated manner to fulfil it’s objectives.

With an objective of inducing tenacious and tangible interventions for the holistic development of the vulnerable and underprivileged, the Trust has been prioritizing various effective and efficient socioeconomic development programs over the years.

Guided and inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and considering the need felt for the state, SCT focuses on certain selected thematic areas such as ‘education’, ‘health & nutrition’, ‘livelihood & capacity building’, ‘women empowerment’, ‘skill & entrepreneurship development’, ‘environment, technology & sustainability’, ‘water, sanitation & hygiene WASH)’ and ‘emergency relief’ etc....Education being one of the primary focus of SCT, some of the major activities such as pedagogy development, curriculum design, teacher’s training and imparting of quality education to the students in Odisha are done in a regular manner. ‘Teacher’s training’, ‘science movement’, ‘awareness programs for students’, ‘children science congress program’, ‘mathematics olympiads’, etc. are part and parcel of the SCT.In a significant move in implementing the Government Projects, SCT has set a benchmark through implementing the ‘Learning Recovery Program (LRP)-2022’ of Odisha School Education Program Authority (OSEPA), Ministry of Mass education, Government of Odisha. The LRP program was envisioned by Government to ensure bridging the learning gap due to the pandemic for students of Government and Government aided schools of the state. The Trust worked in 15 districts of Odisha reaching 24,000 schools and about 20,00,000 students from Grade 3 to 9 in a period of 3 months. The scope of work included ‘resource person training’ to ‘teacher training’, ‘concept manual designing’, ‘teachers manual and student workbook printing’, ‘delivery at block as well as school level’, ‘school monitoring’, ‘software updates’ etc.The LRP program was a huge success benefiting the students and ensuring the growth of their knowledge.

Founder & Chairman

Mr Jyoti Ranjan Tripathy,
the Founder and Chairman of Subhadra Charitable Trust, studied Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. After a brief stint in MNCs, he pursuaded his passion in teaching, he founded ‘Vidwan Classes’- a premier IIT and Medical entrances coaching institute of Odisha which has produced over 1800 IITians, over 5000 NIT/BITS graduate and over 80 NEET qualifiers, who have joined premier institutes of the country. He has been working tirelessly in supporting pedagogical refinements by undertaking various workshops on science and technology like the“Science Movement”-wherein many top scientists and professors from all over India have graced the occasions. To further strengthen grassroots education, he has founded Cohen International school, a CBSE affiliated school with classes from LKG to 12th which is spread over 10 acres of land near to IIT Bhubaneswar.

As an avid philanthropist, Mr. Jyoti Ranjan Tripathy, has been contributing immensely towards the socio-economic development of the people from vulnerable and underprivileged sections of the society. Apart from being the Founder & Chairman of SCT, he also soldiers the responsibility of the Chairman of ‘Cohen International school’, Director of ‘Vidwan Classes Pvt. Ltd.’, Director of ‘Odisha Primary Teacher Research and Training Institute’ and Secretary of ‘National Institute of Mathematics’.

Minakshi Tripathy,
As Programme Director of Subhadra Charitable Trust , her focus has been grant management, nurturing programmatic initiative, strategy development as well as developing project norms and implementation procedures. She is also holding the position of Project Head in Vidwan Classes Pvt Ltd– the knowledge partner of the Trust.

Minakshi is an accomplished development professional with more than 24 years of managerial and leadership experience in the areas of livelihoods, health, nutrition , WASH and education. Before joining Subhadra Charitable Trust, she has worked in PRADAN, World Bank, UNICEF and Ernst and Young LLP. For more than a decade, she has been instrumental in implementing largescale developmental projects in close association Government Departments of Jharkhand , Karnataka and Odisha.

She is a skilled trainer and is selected as South Asia Associates from Traidcraft, UK in 2013. She attended South Asia-US Exchange Program to Build Alliance on Ending Domestic Violence on Women in San Francisco and New York in 2002. She holds a post graduate in Political Science from Utkal University, Odisha and Master of Arts in Rural Development (MARD) from IGNOU.
